アマゾンチャクラマカンボ
マカンボ (Theobroma bicolor)は、別名ホワイトカカオ、ジャガーカカオとしても知られるカカオの親戚です。繊細な白い豆で、焙煎するとサクサクした食感とさっぱりとしたナッツの味わいを楽しむことができます。
現在、商業的にはほとんど栽培されていませんが、エクアドルのアマゾン地域のチャクラ農園では伝統的に栽培されている木であり、キチュア族の重要な食材の一つとなっています。
マカンボはカカオのシェードツリーの役割を果たしたり、落ち葉が天然の有機肥料となってカカオの栽培を手助けする役割を果たしています。マカンボが新たな収入源となることは、キチュアの人々の収入向上、生物多様性保存、熱帯雨林保全などの持続的な価値に繋がっていますので、ぜひ積極的に使って頂けたら嬉しいです。
